Villa Colomba is ideally suited to those who love simple Italian style, from families to artists and writers. It is perfectly located for exploring the treasures of Umbria and Tuscany.

Umbria is known as the ‘Heart of Italy’ and lies east of Tuscany, and west of the Marches. The region includes wonderful countryside and Villa Colomba is within easy driving distance of many delightful towns such as Assisi, birthplace of St Francis; Orvieto, Todi, Torgiano and Spoleto; and hilltop towns such as Spello and Montefalco.

Lake Trasemeno, one of the largest lakes in Italy, is twenty five minutes drive away. Here you can relax and enjoy a range of watersports including sailing and windsurfing, and there are many lakeside restaurants selling the local fish. Panicale, overlooking the lake, is a typical medieval Umbrian fortified hill top village of great charm.

Perugia, a hill-top Etruscan city, is one of the finest of its kind in Italy. It is famous for its historic buildings, piazzas, museums and the Umbria International Jazz Festival, which it hosts in July, as well as Bacci (‘chocolate kisses’ made in Perugia), and there is a Euro chocolate Festival in October.

Spoleto holds its cultural ‘Festival of the Two Worlds’ at the end of June, while Montefalco is famous for its fabulous views, frescoes by Gozzoli and its Sagrantino wines. There are many fantastic restaurants in the surrounding area where you can sample the true Umbrianand Tuscan delicacies such as the tartufa (truffle), and the excellent local wines.
